I had been receiving a pension amount that seemed lower than what I had expected based on my service record. Aegiscraft reviewed the scheme documents and identified a period of contribution that had not been factored in. The written summary they produced made the basis of the error clear. We raised it with the administrator and the figure was revised.

My father passed away and we discovered his pension nomination had not been updated after my parents divorced. The situation was more complex than I anticipated. The team at Aegiscraft explained the relevant scheme rules, helped us understand what the options were, and did not rush us at any point. We appreciated the unhurried way they handled it.

I was about six months from retirement and wanted someone to go through my pension file properly before I accepted the figure I had been quoted. The review picked up a discrepancy in the service period calculation. The written summary gave me exactly what I needed to go back to the administrator with a clear question rather than a vague complaint.

After my application was declined without what I considered a satisfactory explanation, a colleague suggested I consult a specialist. Aegiscraft reviewed the correspondence history and took over the file. The letter they wrote to the administrator changed the tone of the exchange considerably. The matter was resolved without needing to go any further.

I had a will prepared some years ago but had not thought about whether my pension nominations still made sense alongside it. Aegiscraft walked me through both documents and identified two places where the arrangements would produce an outcome I did not intend. The revised nominations were drafted and submitted within a few weeks. It was a worthwhile exercise to do before it became urgent.

I was helping my mother, who is 68 and does not read English confidently, to understand correspondence she had received from her pension scheme. Aegiscraft handled the matter patiently and explained everything at a pace she could follow. They brought her into the process rather than speaking around her. That approach made a significant difference to how she experienced the whole thing.

How certain matters developed

Entitlement Review · Kuala Lumpur

Contribution period omitted from retirement calculation

The situation

A client approaching retirement had received a projected pension figure which appeared lower than expected given a full working career. The scheme's letter did not explain the basis of the calculation.

What was done

The entitlement review identified that a period of service with an earlier employer — prior to a company merger — had not been included. Employment records from the earlier period confirmed the service period in question.

Outcome

Written representations were made to the administrator. The service period was acknowledged and the calculation revised. The matter was concluded within two months of the initial review.

Dispute Representation · Selangor

Revised entitlement following early retirement

The situation

A client who had taken early retirement under a voluntary separation scheme received a revised pension notice three years later, reducing the monthly amount by a significant margin. The administrator's letter cited a clause in the scheme rules that the client had not been made aware of at the time of separation.

What was done

The file was reviewed in full, including the original separation documentation and the scheme rules as they applied at the date of separation. The administrator's application of the clause was found to be inconsistent with the terms under which the client had agreed to separate.

Outcome

Formal representations were made. The administrator agreed to reinstate the original amount, with arrears for the period of reduction. The client did not need to attend any formal hearing.

Pension nomination in conflict with current family arrangements

The situation

A retired civil servant wanted to ensure that on his death, the pension survivor benefit would flow correctly to his current spouse and not to beneficiaries named in a nomination form submitted over fifteen years earlier.

What was done

The existing nomination forms, scheme survivor rules, and the client's will were reviewed together. The review found that the scheme rules gave priority to the nomination form over the will for the survivor pension, creating a potential conflict with the client's intentions.

Outcome

A revised nomination was drafted and submitted to the scheme administrator. The client was also advised on a minor adjustment to the will to ensure the remaining estate provisions aligned with the updated nomination.
