How We Work

Our methodology across all engagements

01

Document Collection

The client provides available scheme documents, statements, and correspondence. We advise on what is needed and what can be requested from the administrator.

02

Legal Analysis

Documents are read against the applicable scheme rules and Malaysian law. Observations are recorded and assessed for significance.

03

Written Report & Consultation

A written summary is prepared and discussed with the client. Available options are explained, and the client decides how — or whether — to proceed.

Service 01

Review of Pension Entitlement and Supporting Documentation

A considered review for individuals approaching retirement or already receiving a pension, who wish to understand whether their entitlement has been correctly calculated. The review examines employment records, contribution histories, scheme documentation, and any correspondence received from the administering body. A written summary is prepared, setting out observed inconsistencies, questions that might reasonably be raised with the scheme, and the options available under Malaysian law. The purpose is to allow the client to reach their own view before deciding whether to proceed further.

What the review includes

  • Examination of scheme rules against contribution records
  • Review of all correspondence from the administering body
  • Identification of observed inconsistencies
  • Plain-language written summary
  • Discussion with the client on next steps available

Service 02

Representation in Disputes with Pension Administrators

Representation for clients who have reached an impasse with a pension administrator — a declined application, a revised entitlement, or a recalculation that the client considers inconsistent with scheme terms. The work begins with a thorough review of the file, followed by written correspondence, attendance at meetings where required, and preparation of submissions in the relevant forum. Advice is given in measured terms and includes a realistic view of prospects, duration, and costs. The client remains fully in charge of decisions throughout the engagement.

What the engagement covers

  • Full review of the existing correspondence file
  • Preparation of written representations to the administrator
  • Attendance at meetings or hearings where required
  • Submissions to the relevant forum if escalation is warranted
  • Ongoing advice on prospects and decisions

Service 03

Succession Planning for Pension Benefits

A planning service for clients wishing to ensure that nominated beneficiaries and survivor arrangements under their pension scheme are consistent with their broader estate plan. The work involves a review of nomination forms, scheme rules on survivor benefits, and the interaction with wills and trusts where applicable. Where adjustments are advisable, draft wording is prepared and discussed with the client before any step is taken. The service is conducted at an unhurried pace, giving the client time to consider each element with family members if they wish.

What the service provides

  • Review of existing nomination forms against current wishes
  • Assessment of scheme survivor benefit rules
  • Examination of interaction with the client's will and any trusts
  • Draft revised nomination wording where adjustments are needed
  • Discussion at the client's pace, with family invited if the client wishes
